Alison Marcotte has been writing stories since she was a child. She’s passionate about writing stories that are authentic, funny, hopeful, and filled with heart. After graduating from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in journalism, Alison jumped back into her love for children’s book writing.

Her debut picture book SEEKING BEST FRIEND, illustrated by Diane Ewen and published by Beaming Books, came out in January 2022. She was one of the winners of Vivian Kirkfield’s 2024 #50PreciousWords contest.

Alison is the PAL (Published and Listed) Coordinator for the SCBWI Illinois region. She’s a Chicago Writers Association member and one of the editors for their book review website Windy City Reviews. She’s also a member of the 12 x 12 Picture Book Writing Challenge and a freelance writer for American Library Association’s American Libraries magazine.

When she’s not writing, she’s often exploring Chicago, running (and trying to brainstorm new ideas), or spending time with family.

Alison is represented by Ashley Reisinger of Triada US.
